The research will allow the development of new drugs and therapies against melanoma

The skin cancer is one of the most dangerous types of cancer around the world, which is why it is very important the discovery of Argentine researcher Diego Popler University of Tucuman (UNT) , who identified the causes of advancement melanoma.

According to the researcher, this achievement may help develop new  drugs and therapies that help fight skin cancer. But it also knows better the relationship between a protein called MITF and the proliferation of this disease.

Skin Cancer and Parkinson’s

Advanced skin cancer or melanoma can be life-threatening, so it is vital to develop new drugs that help prevent its progress and associated risks, such as Parkinson’s .

In this regard, Popler’s research, which is in the initial stage, could also serve to establish if there are links between melanoma and Parkinson.

This study, conducted in the laboratory of Edward De Robertis at the University of California (UCLA) in Los Angeles, has determined that there is also a “relationship between Parkinson’s and melanoma and that patients with this type of cancer skin multiplied by four the risk of developing Parkinson’s and vice versa “.

Therefore, says the researcher from Tucuman, “the objective of this research is that” in the future can serve as a basis for targeting new therapeutic targets. ”

Causes of Skin Cancer or Melanoma

It should be noted that this type of cancer is one of the most common and aggressive around the world. It is estimated that it will affect about 20% of the world population, so prevention is of great importance. The main causes of melanoma are:

According to the US National Cancer Institute, NIH , other risk factors are:

Clear skin in which freckles are formed or that burns easily, does not tan or tans badly.

Eyes blue or green, or other light colors.

Red hair or blond hair.

2. Suffering from actinic keratosis .

3. Have previously been treated with radiation .
