When diagnosed with cancer becomes a scary fact, but must follow all treatments and necessary care to eradicate the tumor , often the cancer progresses and begins to spread to other organs of the body, which is called metastasis.

 

In most women, breast cancer is diagnosed early, thanks to self-examination or mammography , unfortunately sometimes the cancer is quite advanced and must resort to more effective treatments.

 

Metastasis is the spread of a cancerous focus to an organ other than their origin , usually occurs through blood or lymphatic. Approximately 98% of deaths from cancers not detected in time, are due to metastasis of it.

 

Metastatic Breast Cancer

 

Metastatic breast cancer is the name given to advanced breast cancer. Cancer cells can travel or scroll through your lymphatic system and blood vessels , spreading over most of his body, attacking vital functions and compromising your overall health.

 

This metastatic cancer can spread to any other organ , the most common sites for the development of metastasis are the bones, lungs, and liver.

 

Bone Metastasis

 

This type of metastasis represents 25% of all breast cancers metastatic. are two main types of bone cancer:

 

  • Osteolytic: this cancer eating away the bone structure and forming holes in the bones, leaving them prone to breaks and fractures.
  • Osteoblast: increases bone density, but also makes them prone to fractures. Both types of bone cancer cause pain.

 

Metastases in the lungs

 

The lung metastases represents between 60% and 70% of all deaths associated with metastatic breast cancer. This type of metastasis, so usually no symptoms. metastases in the liver .

 

The liver metastases developed in two thirds of metastatic breast cancer , when cancer cells begin to multiply within the tissues of the liver. Often it is associated with truly intense and painful symptoms.

 

This metastatic cancer can also spread to organs such as the eyes, brain, ovaries and bone marrow.

 

Symptoms of breast cancer metastasis

 

Symptoms usually metastatic breast cancer to develop until advanced stages and depends on the areas where the cancer has spread , usually include:

 

  • Regional pain.
  • Weight loss.
  • Gastrointestinal problems.
  • Fracture and bone pain.
  • Migraines.
  • Weakness.
  • Fever and chills.

 

Diagnosis of metastatic cancer

 

If nodules are extracted breast surgery usually found in the armpits and those cells show positive results in cancer, the person shall be subjected to the following:

 

  • Review and bone scan.
  • Radiographs.
  • MRI (magnetic resonance imaging).
  • TACs. (Computed axial tomography)

 

Metastatic

 

There are 2 types of treatments:

 

  • Integrals through female hormones and chemotherapy.
  • Local: with surgery where the tumor may be removed and through radiation to stop the growth of small sections of cancer.

 

There are always alternatives to overcome and alleviate medical metastatic cancer, what is important is the attitude and positive outlook you undertake against such problems , also recalls the importance of preventing a possible outset breast cancer , making regular self-examination when start your period and mammograms after age 40. Do it for yourself, do it for your family!
